March Madness winner
Andrew Wesson, The Male Half’s nephew, took the top spot in our bracket contest, picking the winner of the tournament correctly and racking up 125 points overall. John Conroy took the top spot among comedians, coming in second with 112 points. Sean L. McCarthy came in third after having taken over the lead in Elite Eight round. (Another of the Male Half’s nephews, Danny McKim, came in fourth.)
The Female Half ended up fifth.
Andrew Wesson, who attends UMass Amherst, wins a copy of “Mock Stars” by John Wenzel. (Unless of course, he doesn’t want it… then it goes to John Conroy!) We might see the winner in person next weekend– we’ll be performing at Mottley’s in Boston.

Our Book!
Damn You Andrew Wesson! It’s the old “Our nephew won the bracket” trick. Kidding of course, thanks for holding the bracket challenge it was alot of fun. And I’m comfortable being 1st among comics. Until next march.
The Facebook bracket thing seemed screwy for the duration of it. In my bracket standings there was never an Andrew Wesson or a Sean L. McCarthy. It listed me as being in first from opening day till the final 4 when Uconn made it.Still just shows John Conroy as the winner with me in second. I’m not complaining, just pointing out that something wasn’t working quite right apparently.Here’s a screen shot of the final standings I got.http://themagnavox.org/brackets.png
Yipe! Controversy! Who knew it would spring up in such an innocent setting!We are befuddled. (And we’re sure glad there’s no money on the line! Damn you, CBS!)Anyway, we are prepared to resolve the situation thusly: Since he’s our nephew, we have no compunction whatsoever about stiffing him and awarding the book to Conroy. (John’s a comic, after all… our nephew, last time we checked, had no aspirations in that direction.)Problem solved!Note to Andrew: We’ll work out suitable compensation if we see you next weekend. Perhaps comps to one of our shows at Mottley’s! Better yet– how about we sling you a couple of cases of your favorite beer when you turn 21 in December!Note to Conroy: Sling us your address via email and we’ll send the book off in Tuesday’s mail!Thanks again to all who participated!
