She's funny! I'm outta here!
FOS John Kensil alerted us to an article in the British newspaper, The Independent, ” Why men don’t fancy funny women,” involving reasearch results.
Dr. Rod Martin led the project. The findings are published in the scientific journal Evolution and Human Behaviour this week.
“When forced to choose between humour production and humour appreciation in potential partners, women valued humour production, whereas men valued receptivity to their own humour,” said Dr Martin.
That’s going on the next business card– “Humor Production.”

I just readA COUPLA MINUTESUP FRONTBrian McKim“Tail Wags Dog” I couldn’t agree more. If comics make pain funny, it’s because they make it funny, not because funny is necessarily painful or because pain is inherently funny. You don’t have to be a loser or pretend to be a loser to be funny. Mitch Hedberg is an example you mentioned, and also Steven Wright. Lewis Black comes to mind. And of course Seinfeld (who is at least mildly amusing, if not roll-in-the-floor funny) as a standup. C’mon, let’s just tell jokes. If they’re good ones told right, they’re funny.
Yup, I’ve always said… I won’t fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke.
