Jokers closes, Dayton Funny Bone opens
According to an article in the Dayton Daily News, Jokers Comedy Cafe, which opened in 1985, will move to a new location and become part of the Funny Bone chain. Jokers owner Lisa Grigsby will transplant her entire staff and become “managing partner”of the new club:
“I don’t know if a whole lot will change, but we’ll have less chances to take risks and do some edgy things,” Grigsby added.
“It will be nice to be in a new, hip area. It’s going to be a bigger club, so you won’t have the same intimate feel. On the other hand, I bet the air conditioning works 100 percent of the time in the new building.”
We read the article twice and we’re not sure if they mentioned exactly where the new location is. (And, when we tried to go back and read it a third time, the DDN website wanted us to “Tell us a little bit about yourself!”) The club’s new website has it at 88 Plum St.
