Yet another standup comic will commit career suicide by signing on to host a game show. Bob Saget will follow in the footsteps of Howie Mandel, descending into the ignominy and obscurity that inevitably comes with hosting a primetime game show. (Note that the sarcasm light is flashing.)
According to the UPI recap of the Variety story, Saget will host One vs. 100, to be launched later this year. Saget has also signed a holding deal with NBC to star in a scripted series in the 07-08 season. Saget is 50 years old.
The quirky comic has been out to change the way folks think of Bob Saget lately– snorting coke and consorting with hookers on Entourage, uttering the famous “I usta suck d*** for coke” line in “Half-Baked” and telling the filthiest version of The Joke in “The Aristocrats.” We actually heard some people opine that all this wallowing would hurt Saget’s career. Perhaps it would– among the same people who also approach soap opera bad guys on the street and whack them with a purse. The rest of us– we can tell it’s acting!
