Canadians weigh in on Richards meltdown
A Canadian Press article seeks insight into the Infamous Factory Meltdown by quizzing Yuks mogul Mark Breslin and some comics from up north. One describes Richards’ performance as “a very amateur, childish response.” Others offer advice on how to deal with hecklers.
Other Canadian comics said Tuesday they were astonished by Richards’ outburst, saying they have their own tactics and techniques for dealing with hecklers – none of them involving the shocking route that Richards took.

Seriously – ARE there some super secret Canadian heckler techniques that we don’t know about down here?P.S. Happy Turkey Day, Shecky!
I think Timmy Mac might have misread the intention of the quote. I don’t think Canadian comics are any better, worse or, for that matter, very different from American comics in dealing with hecklers. I think the point is that experienced stand-ups know better how to deal with hecklers than a guy who is just playing at stand-up. Perhaps the Michael Richards incident is a warning to those who would venture into dangerous territory without the proper survival skills.
