Lipton Just For Laughs tour approaches
Shaun Majumder, Rocky Laporte, Rod “Rodman” Thompson, Ryan Belleville, Carl Barron and Scott Faulconbridge will tour Canada from October 22 to November 20 under the Lipton banner. The Lipton Just For Laughs Comedy Tour will kick off in Halifax and make its way to Vancouver, then loop back and hit Calgary. Every fall, a couple of big corporations cherry pick a handful of comics from JFL and book them into ambitious tours in venues large and small. Full details (dates, venues) are available at the Just For Laughs website

Maybe I’m just getting jaded, but the Canadian leg of the JFL tour seems to feature fewer and fewer “oh my god!” names every year.It used to be something to look forward to because you were unlikely to find most of the comics at a club in Middle-of-Wherever Canada. The 3 Canadians on the bill this year are fairly ubiquitous. I *adore* Majumder, but he’s kind of the Where’s Waldo of Canadian comedy festivals.I’ve seen the majority of the folks on the bill this year in person (and a few online only) and they are fantastic, don’t get me wrong. But I wish JFL would pick it up a bit and make this show the event it was 2, 3, 4 years ago. They certainly have no trouble getting names for the US tour… just look at last year’s orgasm-inducing lineup at http://64.254.158.7/comedy_tour_usa/ It’s the only time I’ve ever thought “maybe I should move to Scranton”.Sharilyn
