Dustin Diamond scuffles with woman

by Brian McKim & Traci Skene on August 10th, 2006

We haven’t heard the last of this story. Dustin Diamond, aka Screech:

…told a Tampa, Fla., radio station that a woman broke into his room in a west Omaha hotel at around 3:40 a.m.

Diamond, 29, said the 28-year-old woman was armed with Mace.

He said the woman grabbed some video games, and he pinned her with the room’s door, at which point she yelled “Rape.”

Diamond said he held her until police arrived.

The Omaha cops aren’t saying who they believe. We’re leaning toward Diamond’s version. Otherwise, why would he hold her until the police artived? Does this gal have a history of goofy behavior? If he’s playing the Omaha Bone, why is he talking to a Tampa radio station? (Due to the ambiguous nature of the wire story copy, it wasn’t clear that Diamond had finished at Omaha on Sunday and was talking to the Tampa station on Monday of this week.– Editors) Is mace a proprietary term? Otherwise, why capitalize it?
