Mike DeStefano, comedian
Mike DeStefano, who reached the finals of season seven of Last Comic Standing, and who was to appear at the Barrow Street Theatre on Wednesday night in “Mike DeStefano In: A Cherry Tree In The Bronx” in NYC, died last night of a heart attack. Stay tuned.
DeStefano had just finished a lengthy tour with fellow LCS finalists Roy Wood Jr., Myq Kaplan, Tommy Johnagin and Felipe Esparza.

(Photo credit: Todd Jackson) DeStefano turned in a splendid performance that night on the Wise Guys show at the Spectrum Theatre, in which he “got the second half off to an edgy, roaring start.” That was the first time we had seen DeStefano perform.
We have a special request to the cretins (both comics and no-comics) who, when commemorating a deceased comedian, end the whole statement with, “… and yet (fill in name of hated comedian du jour) lives on.” It’s low-class, it’s stupid and it’s spiteful. Anyone who does it is a loser. And a hack. Knock it off. It certainly makes you (and, by association, all of us) seem insubstantial. Grow the fuck up.

This totally sucks. Seems like he was finally getting a whole lot of recognition.
While I’m sad that Mike has passed, I’m grateful to a least had a chance to see his comedy.

Just watched his Comedy Central Presents… Good performance. One of the few I watch to the end. They put a In Memoriam at the end.
